AI Activity Log Summary

Last updated: September 11, 2026

A personalised recap of what's changed since your last visit, right at the top of the Activity Log.

Introduction 🚀

Returning to a contract you haven't looked at in a while usually means scrolling through the all the logs to piece together what happened while you were away. The AI Activity Log Summary removes that step. When you open a contract, SpotDraft checks whether anything relevant has happened since your last visit and, if so, gives you a short, plain-english recap, written with your role and pending tasks in mind.

How It Works 🧠

  • The first time you ever open a specific contract, you'll see a summary covering everything on record for it.

  • On every visit after that, SpotDraft checks whether anyone other than you has done anything on the contract since you were last there.

    • If they have, you get a fresh summary covering what's new.

    • If nothing's changed, or the only activity was your own, you'll see the same summary from your last visit rather than a repeat of something you already know.

This means the summary is always about catching up on what others did, not narrating your own actions back to you.

What You'll See 📋

The summary appears as a card at the top of the Activity Log panel, above the individual log entries. Each card includes:

  • A short written summary, a few sentences covering the key updates

  • A "Since [date, time]" label, so you know exactly what window it's covering

  • An activity count, for example "Based on 7 activities since Apr 20th"

While a summary is being put together, the card shows a brief loading state and updates on its own once ready, you don't need to refresh the page.

Personalised to Your Role 🎯

The same set of updates can matter differently depending on who's reading them, so the summary is written with your role on that contract in mind:

  • Business owners get a sense of overall deal progress: approvals, blockers, and whether things are moving toward signature.

  • Legal reviewers get a focus on edits, comments, and where the review currently stands.

  • Approvers get anything that could affect their decision, called out clearly.

  • Signatories get what's changed since the contract was routed to them and what's expected of them next.

If something in the update directly needs your attention or is the next step for you specifically, the summary will call that out rather than leaving you to infer it.

Giving Feedback 👍

Every summary has a thumbs up and thumbs down. Use these to tell us when a summary was helpful or when it missed the mark, your feedback feeds directly into making future summaries better.

Copying and Dismissing

  • Copy: Use the copy option on the card to grab the summary text as plain text, handy for pasting into an email or status update.

  • Dismiss: Closing the card collapses it for your current session only. It'll be back the next time you open the contract, and follows the same logic as any other visit.

Good to Know

Item

Details

Session history only

You can look back at your last 3 generated summaries in a session, but there's no long-term history to browse across visits or after a page reload.

90-day look back on first visit

If it's your very first summary for a contract that already has more than 90 days of activity on it, the summary covers only the most recent 90 days.

FAQs 💬

Q: Does the summary replace the Activity Log?
A: No. The Activity Log still shows every individual entry in full. The summary is a quick-catch-up layer on top of it, not a replacement.

Q: Will I see a new summary every single time I open the contract?
A: Only if something's changed since your last visit. If nothing new has happened, or the only activity was yours, you'll see your last summary rather than a fresh one.

Q: Does my own activity ever show up in my summary?
A: The summary is about what others did since your last visit, your own actions on the contract don't trigger a new summary for you.
