Append one or more contracts with a .docx extension sequentially to another contract template document and send them as one single document to the counterparty for review or signature. You can add an already existing contract or create a new contract using the new contract workflow, to appended to the parent contract.
Prerequisites
- Ensure you have the necessary access and permissions to create and manage contracts in SpotDraft CLM.
- Contracts to be merged should be in the redlining stage to facilitate merging of contracts.
- Ensure all contracts intended for merging pertain to the same counterparty.
This contract workflow will feature a 'Related Contracts' field, providing a straightforward method to link and merge any other contracts with the one currently being drafted.

Create a New Template Workflow
- Quickly search by using ‘Cmd+K’(Mac) or ‘Ctrl+K’(Windows) and type "Template Contracts". Alternatively, from the sidebar navigate to “New Contract Workflows” > “Template Workflows”>”Template Contracts”
- Choose the contract which will serve as the primary or 'parent' document. In this case we choose the contract ‘Order Form’ that will subsequently nest or encompass additional contracts.
Step 2:
Enter all the “Party Information” details for this new contract and click on “Next”.
Step 3:
Answer all the questions under “Contract Details” as required.
To merge another contract, click on “+Add Contract” and choose the contract you want to attach.
Step 4
The list will be filtered to display only contracts from the current counterparty you are working with, locate the contract that you wish to append.
Click on the “+Add” button to proceed.
Step 5
After successfully attaching the contracts, you will receive a "Success" message confirmation.
Click on “Preview Contract” to view the consolidated version of the merged contracts.
That's it! You've successfully merged multiple contracts into one consolidated contract in SpotDraft CLM.

No .docx Version Available: The system will prompt you to upload a .docx version if one is not available for contracts with the same counterparty name.
No Counterparties Match: When no contracts with a matching counterparty name exist, no contracts will appear upon attempting to add a contract.
