This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to create a contract using a template in SpotDraft.
Step 1: Select a template
Log in to your SpotDraft account.
From the main navigation bar, click on "New" and then select "Template Contracts."
Select the desired template from the list
Step 2: Fill in the party information
To begin with, you have to provide the creator and counterparty information
Creator party information
Select the legal entity for your company.
Select the signatory from your party
Add the counterparty name
If your counterparty is an organization, you will need to add a POC
Add the counterparty address (Optional step)
Troubleshooting Counterparty Type Restrictions
When creating a contract from a template, you may encounter a situation where you cannot add your desired counterparty type (individual vs. organization). This occurs when the workflow is configured with specific counterparty type restrictions.
The workflow may be configured to allow only specific counterparty types
Contact your workspace administrator or Customer Success Manager to update the workflow settings to enable the counterparty type you need
No templates visible when creating a contract
If you don't see any templatized contracts on the “Select Template” screen, you may not have Creator Access to the Contract Types. Contact your internal Admin team to grant you Creator Access by following these steps:
Navigate to Settings > Access Control
Click on Contract Type
Search for the desired Contract Type
Under Creators, add the user or their team
For more information, see the help article on Permission Levels and Access Control.
Step 3: Answer Template Questions
The template will include several questions to gather relevant information for the contract.
Carefully review each question and provide accurate and complete answers.
You can always save your responses to come back and answer them later.
Step 4: Submit the Contract
Once you've completed all the required information, click the "Submit" button.
Step 5: Collect Approvals (If Required)
If the workflow requires approvals, a notification will appear prompting you to "Collect Approval."
Click on the "Collect Approval" button to send the contract for review.
Step 6: Send the Contract to the Counterparty
After all required approvals are collected, the contract will move to the "Draft" stage.
Click on the "Send" button to send the contract to the counterparty.
Review the email message and ensure all the details are accurate.
Click "Send" to send the contract to the counterparty.
If you don’t see this option in your workspace, please contact your Customer Success Manager (CSM) to enable this feature
Congratulations! You have successfully created a contract using a template in SpotDraft.

Ensure you have access to the desired template before starting the process. If you don’t see a template you need, contact your workspace administrator.
Double-check all information before submitting the contract to ensure accuracy.
