How to Search for Contracts

Finding the specific contract you need is easy with SpotDraft's powerful search features. You can use a simple search to find contracts by name, counterparty, or reference ID, or leverage the advanced search to find contracts containing specific terms or clauses.

Simple Search:

  1. Start Typing: Go to the search bar in your SpotDraft repository and start typing the contract title, counterparty name, or reference ID of the contract you're looking for.
  2. Instant Results: SpotDraft will display results as you type, highlighting the matching search terms.

Exact Term Search:

  • Use Double Quotes: To find contracts with an exact term, enclose it in double quotes. For example, to find a "Non-Disclosure Agreement," type "Non-Disclosure Agreement" in the search bar.

Advanced Search: Finding Contracts with Specific Clauses:

  1. Enable Search Contract Text: Turn on the "Search Contract Text" toggle next to the search bar in your repository.
  2. Enter Your Term: Type the specific term or clause you're looking for, then click "Search".
  3. View Results: SpotDraft will display contracts containing that term. You'll see a new column called "Text Matches" with the number of times the term appears in each contract.
  4. See the Matches: Click "Text Matches" to see the exact instances of the term within the contract.
  5. Open the Contract: Click on the contract's name to view the full summary page.

Using AND/OR Operators for Advanced Searches:

  • Combine Terms: Use the "AND" or "OR" operators to find contracts with specific combinations of terms. For example, to find contracts containing "confidentiality" or "indemnification," type:
    • confidentiality OR indemnification
  • Search Results: SpotDraft will show you contracts containing either or both of these terms.

Remember: You can use as many terms and operators as you need to find the exact contracts you're looking for
