Search + Advanced Search
Discover effective methods for searching contract-related language within your repository using SpotDraft’s search bar.
Using the Search Bar
The search bar on the repository enables you to locate contracts by entering key terms such as contract title, counterparty name, or reference ID of the contract you’re looking for. Once you type in the required information, simply press enter and the results will be displayed in the repository.
Using Exact Term Search
To search for contracts using a specific key term, follow these steps:
Step 1: Go to the search bar on your SpotDraft repository.
Step 2: For an exact term search, enclose the key term in double quotes. For example, if you're searching for an employment agreement, type "employment agreement" in the search bar, and the results with the exact term will appear in your grid.
Using Advanced Search (Searching through Contract Language)
What is Advanced Search?
SpotDraft’s Advanced Search allows users to identify and list out contracts that have a specific term in the contract language.
Here's how it works -
- Enable the ‘Search Contract Text’ toggle next to the search bar on the repository, type in the desired term or clause, and press ‘Search’.
- The relevant contracts appear in the repository with an additional column ‘Search Mentions’.
- Clicking on ‘Show Mentions’ reveals the clause with the searched keywords, and you can open the contract’s summary page for a closer view.
Using AND/OR operators for advanced search
In addition to the advanced search feature, you can utilize the AND/OR operators to search any combination of clauses or terms in your entire contract repository.
Here’s how to use it:
Step 1: Enable the ‘Search Contract Text’ toggle next to the search bar on the repository.
Step 2: Type a combination of contract clauses or terms you’re searching for with the ‘AND’ or ‘OR’ feature and press ‘Search’.
- For example, let’s say you want to find contracts that contain either the term "confidentiality" or "indemnification" in the contract language.
- Type the following in the search bar: confidentiality OR indemnification and press ‘Search’.
Step 3: The relevant contracts appear in the repository with an additional column ‘Search Mentions’ in the Repository.
Step 4: Click on 'Show Mentions' to view instances of these contract terms within the associated contracts.
