Contract Packets

Step-by-Step Guide

💡
In this article: You’ll learn about Contract Packets, a powerful tool to help users review grouped contracts faster.

Contract Packets

Contract Packets can be used to club together contracts that are part of the same deal. This helps improve visibility for internal stakeholders, and make it easier to review and approve them together.

Note that while all packets are visible to all users on the workspace, the contents of the packet will only be shown to users who have access to those specific contracts.

  1. Click on “New” in the side bar

❓ FAQs

Q. What is the limit for contracts that can be included in a packet?

A. A packet can contain a maximum of 10 contracts.

Q. Can I only add TPP contracts into packets?

A. No, all contracts can be added into packets. To add a contract, simply visit the contract page, click on the three-dot menu, and click “Add to Packet”.

Q. How are packets different from Related Contracts?

A. Contract relationships are abstract links between contracts. Contracts may be part of the same relationship but don't need to exist in the same transaction. On the other hand, contracts in the same packet are part of the same business transaction. For example, a renewal amendment one year after an MSA is signed is related to that MSA but need not be in the same packet.

Treat packets on SpotDraft as the virtual form of packets in real life—contracts that need to be physically together (like an NDA, MSA, and DPA part of the same deal) can belong in the same packet.

In short, relationships should be used to store contracts in the repository in a meaningful way, while packets should be used tactically to improve the visibility of multiple linked contracts that make up a transaction.

Q. Can two contracts in the same packet also be related?

A. Yes, packets and contract relationships are independent of each other.

Q. Can I send contracts in the same packet together for signature or for approval?

A. Not yet. Bulk actions on contract packets, including sending for signature and approvals will be introduced in the future.

Q. I can’t see the review section when I upload a single contract. Why is that?

A. Packets are designed to be used when multiple contracts are involved. When you upload a single contract, we take you straight to the repository. You can always go to a contract and add it to a packet from there.
