Seamlessly Update Your Express Contract Links

Introduction

If you use Express Contracts, you know how powerful they are for sharing standard agreements with a single, public link. However, you may have also experienced the challenge of updating the template behind that link.

Previously, updating a template required you to create a completely new Express Contract draft, which generated a brand-new public link.

We're excited to announce a significant improvement that makes this process seamless. Now, your Express Contract links are dynamic, meaning you can update the underlying template without ever having to change the link itself.

Who is this guide for?

This guide is for all SpotDraft administrators and users who manage template workflows that use the Express Contract feature.

Why is this Change So Important?

This update was designed to solve common challenges and save you significant administrative time.

The Old Way (The Problem):

  • Broken Links: Every time you updated a template, you had to generate a new Express Contract link.
  • Manual Work: You had to manually find and replace the old link wherever it was posted (e.g., on your company website or in email templates).
  • Counterparty Confusion: You had to inform anyone who had the old link to stop using it and provide them with the new one, leading to potential confusion and the risk of outdated contracts being signed.

The New, Simpler Way (The Solution):

  • Permanent Links: Your Express Contract links are now permanent. The URL you share will always remain the same.
  • Automatic Updates: When you update the workflow template, you simply need to "Review" the connected Express Contract. Once you complete the review, the content of the link is automatically updated to reflect your latest changes.
  • No More Housekeeping: You no longer need to hunt down and replace old links or worry about counterparties using an outdated version.

How the New Update Process Works

After you make a change to a workflow's template or questionnaire, SpotDraft will guide you to sync your Express Contracts. You can read in more detail here

Step 1: Navigate to the Express Contract Section

  • Within the workflow you just edited, click on Express Contract in the left-hand navigation panel.

Step 2: Identify and Review Outdated Contracts

  • You will see a yellow warning icon (⚠️) next to any Express Contract that is now out of sync with the updated workflow.
  • Click the Review button next to the outdated contract.

Step 3: Complete the Review

  • After checking the details, click the Complete Review button.

The Result: The public link for your Express Contract is instantly updated with the new template information. The link itself has not changed, and no further action is needed from you.

With this update, your Express Contract links are now dynamic and worry-free. You can update your underlying templates with confidence, knowing your public-facing links will always point to the latest version without any extra administrative work.
